Urulai chettinad by pramila goswami

Potato(urulai) cooked in chettinad style!chetttinad recipes are spicy and contain lot of spices , onions and garlic! This potato fry is simple to make.One can make very easily with the simple ingredients available at home. This spicy fry is ideal for winter nights!
Ingredients–


Medium size potatoes 6
Whole Red chillies 5
Pepper corns 1/2 tsp
Urad dal 4 tsp
Garlic cloves 4
Curry leaves 8
Oil 3 tbsp
Salt to taste


Method–


Half the potatoes and place in a bowl.
Keep the bowl in a pressure cooker and steam the potatoes .
Potatoes should be firm ,not over cooked.
Take a pan and dry roast the red chillies, pepper and urad dal golden brown.
Add the garlic.
Since we don’t eat onion and garlic I didn’t use it.
Crush them coarsely in a mixer.
Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan.
Break the potatoes into chunks with hand.
Add to the hot oil.
Add the curry leaves.
Add salt.


Fry on slow flame .
Keep stirring.
Fry till it becomes crispy.
Sprinkle the crushed spices.
Mix well.
Take into a serving bowl.
Garnish with chopp
