Dhanurmaas is observed from 16th dec to 13th jan every year.Though it is considered as inauspious month and people don’t start new ventures,marriages and housewarming etc but this period is considers to be good to worship LordVishnu!
People wake up early morning recite shlokaspeform puja.different types pongal sweet as well as savoury is main offering to Lord vishnu. This Shakkar pongal is one of them. In many south indian temples it is offered to lord everyday!

Ingredients–


Rice 1 cup
Moong dal 1/3 cup
Chana dal 1tbsp
Jaggery grated 1 1/4 cup
Ghee 1/4 cup
Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
Nuts like cashew, almond,pista1tbsp
Kismis 2tsp

 

Method–


बरास कपूर ( a kind of camphor used in sweets) a pinch this gives divine flavor and taste to this dish
Wash rice and dals,soak for 30 mins.
Cook in a cooker soft like khichdi.
Heat a pan and fry the nus and kismis.
Remove them and keep aside.
In that same ghee add the jaggery and cooked rice mixture.
Mix well and cook stirring on low flame.
Add बरास and cook for 10 mins.
Add cardamom powder.
Mix well.
Add the fried nuts keeping some aside for garnish.
Take into a serving bowl.
Garnish with nuts.
