Appe or paniyaram full of proteins! Ideal for breakfast and kids evening snack!
Ingredients–


Rice 1cup
Arhar dal 1/3 cup
Chana dal 2 tbsp
Urad dal 1/3 cup
Green chillies 3
Curry leaves 8
Oil for tadka and cooking
Rai 1/2 tsp
Chana dal 2 tsp
Urad dal 2 tsp
Hing 1/4 tsp
Coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tbsp
Salt to taste

 

Method–


Wash the rice and dals.
Soak them (together) for 3 to 4 hrs.
Grind in a mixer grinder add some water, grind into a paste .
Take into a bowl.
Add water if required to get a batter of pouring consistency.
Cover and allow to ferment for 6 hrs.
Chop the green chillies and curry leaves finely.
Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan.
Add Rai,chana dal,urad dal and hing.
Add the green chillies and curry leaves.
If you want you can add chopped tomato and onion at this stage.
Pour this tadka on the batter.
Add salt and coriander.
Mix well.
Heat the appam pan.
Pour some oil in the pan.
Pour the batter with a spoon into the appam pan.
When sides become brown turn them with a spoon and cook till done.
Serve hot with chutney.
You can veggies of your choice to make it more tasty and healthy.
Chutney without coconut
Ingredients
Peanuts 2tbsp
Roasted chana dal 2 tbsp
Green chillies 4 to 6
Ginger 1 piece
Coriander leaves 1 tbsp
Salt to taste.
Dry roast the peanuts and remove the skin.
Grind all the ingredients with some water into a fine paste.
Add water to get the consistency you like.
Doing tadka is optional.
