Rice upma with KODO MILLET RAVA -- By Pramila Goswami
In tamilnadu people make rice upma which is very different from the regular upma! It is prepared with rice rawa and I thought of making healthy version of this tasty dish I replaced rice rawa with KODO MILLET RAWA and it turned out very nice. Now I am sharing this recipe with Tasty Tales!
Ingredients–
Kodo millet rawa 1cup
Moong dal 1/3 cup
Oil 2 tbsp
I used coconut oil for better flavour you can use ground nut oil
Fresh coconut grated 2 tbsp
Chana dal 1tsp
Urad dal 1tsp
Rai 1/2 tsp
Red chilli 2 broken into pieces
Hing 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves 8to 10
Salt to taste
Method–
Wash the dal and kodo millet rawa.
Remove the water and let it soak for atleast 15 minutes.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
Add chana dal, urad dal,Rai and red chillies.
When it is done add the hing and curry leaves .
Add 3 cups of water.
Add salt and the grated coconut.
When the water starts boiling add washed dal and millet rawa.
Pressure cook on slow gas for 10 minutes.
Open the cooker when the pressure is released.
Serve hot with nimbu ka achaar
